Having been born and raised in Coffee County, Tennessee, I suppose it's fitting that I eventually found myself working in coffee.
When I lived in Panama during my time in the military, I saw for the first time coffee that didn't come pre-ground in a big can. In the hills surrounding Boquete, a small town near Costa Rica, I witnessed the amount of effort required to produce some of the finest coffee in the world. From then on, my appreciation for coffee was changed forever.
To me, coffee was transformed from merely something to get me started in the morning to something that represented an integral part of a culture and a way of life.
It is my wish that the care put into the growing and harvesting of the coffees that I offer is reflected in my humble attempts to honor it.
